My Ubuntu fresh install Guide (13.04)

for Ubuntu 13.04 – Raring Ringtail

Ubuntu Settings

  1. System Settings > Brightness and Lock > ‘Lock off’ and uncheck ‘Require my password…’
  2. Appearance > Look > Launcher icon size : 40
  3. Appearance > Behavior > Enable workspaces & Add show desktop …
  4. Online Accounts > Google & Facebook
  5. Displays > uncheck ‘Mirror displays’

Synaptic Package Manager

  1. Ubuntu Software Manager
  2. install:
  • python-gpgme

Nautilus

Open in terminal:

sudo apt-get install nautilus-open-terminal
nautilus -q

Extra actions:

install nautilus-renamer from: https://launchpad.net/nautilus-renamer

and add this PPA: https://launchpad.net/~nae-team/+archive/ppa

Downgrade nautilus (extrapane):

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:webupd8team/experiments
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
killall nautilus

CompizConfig

  1. Ubuntu Software Manager
  2. Window Management > Place Windows > Use output device of the focused window

Dconf

sudo apt-get install dconf-tools

apps > notifyosd > multihead-mode > ‘focus-follow’.

Chrome

Settings:

On Startup > Continue where I left off

Right-click on Title bar ans check ‘Use System Title bar and Borders’

Printer (Canon MG3150)

sudo apt-get install libtiff4

go to : Canon PIXMA MG3150

and install: MG3100 series IJ Printer Driver Ver. 3.60 for Linux (debian Packagearchive)

DropBox

install python-gpgme via Synaptic Package Manager
